Finding Hybrid Cloud Vendors Shouldn't Take Longer Than Evaluating Them
The average hybrid cloud evaluation involves multiple vendors, months of research, and a procurement cycle that starts before you've had a single useful conversation.
The process itself creates friction, and most of it is avoidable.
Research Triggers a Sales Cycle
Show interest in any hybrid cloud solution and your contact details move through lead generation systems the moment you engage. By the time you've identified three vendors worth evaluating, you have inbound outreach from fifteen.
The Category Is Too Broad
Hybrid cloud covers hyperscalers, platform vendors, managed service providers, and infrastructure integrators. Without a way to filter by your actual requirements upfront, shortlisting means manually reading through vendors who were never relevant to your environment.
Biased Comparison Platforms
Vendor rankings on most discovery platforms reflect ad spend, not capability. Hybrid cloud vendors at the top paid to be there. That doesn't make them wrong for your organization, but it does mean the starting point for your research is biased before you've asked a single question.
Stretched Evaluation Timelines
The standard process puts you in vendor calls before your requirements are fully defined. You're answering as many questions as you're asking. Conversations that should take 30 minutes take three meetings because neither side came prepared with the right context.

Real voices, real results:

Tech leaders who worked with us say:
The vendor I connected to was very prepared and worked well with me on our call. They really focused on our pain points and briefly brought up what else the suite can do, rather than trying to take the whole time describing pieces we’re not ready for yet. It was well done. I would rate my experience as a 10 out of 10! This is the second time I’ve used TechnologyMatch, and both times you’ve exceeded my expectations. It removed a lot of that leg work I would have to do.”
As an IT Director in a manufacturing business working to enable effective digital transformation, I find TechnologyMatch’s services very valuable in connecting me and peers in my company with industry best practices and organizations who have the experience to help us in key areas. I have used TechnologyMatch’s services to engage in discovery with Application Performance, Analytics, Database and Cloud Monitoring. TechnologyMatch has been very thorough and diligent in understanding my organization and its IT needs and objectives. They have done a great job of connecting me with good resources. I highly recommend TechnologyMatch to any IT leader seeking to broaden capabilities and understanding of the diverse and interconnected challenges faced by many organizations.
I would say you guys are very thorough with your assessment of the requirements and the results that you or the partners that you come back with are generally on point as far as what we're looking for.
I wanted to drop you a note to thank TechnologyMatch for being such a huge help in helping us discover and speak with different providers in the IT security space. We are now in a deep dive discovery with the companies they have put us in touch with. We look forward to continue using your invaluable services in the future.
TechnologyMatch set me up with a banging appointment! My Account Manager who set this up hit the nail dead on the head. Friday we have set up a demo for the entire team here and will see all this product has to offer. Kudos to you and your group. The explanation and description that I provided was met to a tee – a very precise match. Thank you folks, you’ve been a big help. We are meeting again in the next week or so with the vendor regarding VDI and the advantages over SD-WAN. Another connection TechnologyMatch turned us on to. Good work all!!
It's been very helpful for me, making contacts with companies I didn't know existed that I wouldn't have found through my normal channels for sure. You know, we're still working on that project with Bridgehead that y' all directed us toward, you know, aiming to kick that off in January. And working through things with them. So that's been very good. A lot of my job is you have to talk to a lot of people to build options and figure out what your plan is going to be. So you all have been pretty helpful in that regard.
I’ve had three calls so far and I’m intrigued by essentially all of them. A variance of overall compelling and interesting solutions. everyone has been brand new and brought something new to the table that has been very compelling.
We used TechnologyMatch in the past for cloud backup solutions. It was a definite resource that was helpful to have to get our there and put feelers out for different solutions. It’s a resource that I remember and comes to the forefront of my mind when I need it so it’s good to have them there.
I would like to take a moment to thank TechnologyMatch for the quality of service and help they have provided. I sincerely appreciate my Account Manager, Eric’s efficient, gracious customer service, the level of detail and accountability he has demonstrated each time we have talked, and the way he conducts business as a whole. Eric’s guidance in the recommendations of vendors has helped me tremendously by allowing me to focus on the technical processes but keeping me on point for several IT security initiatives we have this year. Eric’s recommendations for vendors that are currently helping me complete projects is most appreciated. I look forward in my continued relationship with TechnologyMatch.
This platform is extremely helpful - just finding partners and having the same conversations with 3 or 4 different people just to get the bottom of what I’m looking for is very, very time-consuming where as your marketplace just cuts through all tape, and gets us in contact with the right people…it saves me so much time and I’m very grateful.
They have been supremely professional and get the people prepared for the calls to have a worthwhile conversation. I feel better about scheduling a half hour or 45 minute call with somebody I've met through them vs. anyone else I’ve ever dealt with in 20+ years. They do some of the leg work of answering these questions and I feel like I can be a little bit more forward with my answer to these questions when there’s no pressure, because thy're not selling me on anything they’re just trying to help.
I receive a ton of calls from technology vendors about everything under the sun, most which has no benefit to my business. TechnologyMatch was different, starting out by explaining what they did and asking what areas I wanted/needed help with. TechnologyMatch saved me time and effort in sorting through the myriad of providers to put me in touch with exactly what I would benefit from implementing. After a couple of short phone calls, we have narrowed down to the two vendors to provide technology complete with pricing and provide implementation. I have truly enjoyed the thoroughness and professionalism of TechnologyMatch.
You expose me to existing or current topics, you do the vetting. I’m not getting the fly by companies calling me, dialing for dollars. I like the fact that its prequalified and people are coming to the table with substance
Let me take a moment to share how pleased I am to be partnered with TechnologyMatch… I find the interaction with TechnologyMatch to be timely and, more importantly, not time consuming. I enjoy the quick surveys and brief follow-up calls to confirm current concerns and needs for my organization. The discussions have been meaningful and relevant and have resulted in meeting with some well curated vendors with whom I may do business. The folks I have spoken with and understand IT challenges and business needs. They have a wide portfolio of partner vendors who play well in many arenas. There have been a couple of “misses” where a vendor may be more specialized in the security aspect of Data Governance instead of launching and managing a DG initiative. But TechnologyMatch quickly doubled-back and facilitated another introduction with a firm who specializes in what we need. Due to the complexity of IT as a whole, this is not surprising. I have no complaints. Thank you for bringing such a meaningful, free service to people in my role. I appreciate the efforts put forth and the meaningful connections you have made for me.
It's this right here - it's not just a matter of, here's a new vendor, here's a new vendor, here's a new vendor. But finding vendors that specifically meets the business needs of the time.
TechnologyMatch have connected me with several excellent resources related to major projects we are undertaking this year. The quality of the resources they have surfaced has been extremely high, and I’m very impressed with the quality of TechnologyMatch service.
I wanted to thank them for setting calls for us. It was very helpful to us. I really liked the group that I talked to, not just the product but the people themselves were extremely helpful and it didn’t feel like just a sales pitch. It’s nice to come across a good group like that, and I appreciate it. Keep them on your recommended list for others for sure! This is the first time in a long time a company has been able to answer ALL of my questions and concerns immediately without “Having to get back to me” and then never actually doing it.
It’s often a challenging and time-consuming effort to research prospective technology and security vendors when undertaking a new project or initiative. TechnologyMatch has helped streamline the vetting process and put me in front of several innovative up-and-coming security companies. With time an ever more valuable resource, I’m very pleased to have TechnologyMatch as a trusted platform to help me navigate the increasingly crowded security space.
You provide access to protentional products for us that save me an immense amount of time searching for. I no longer have to spend hours and days finding that potential client. You are able to provide me with multiple choices, I have a zoom call or a teams meeting, if I like it I tell them lets dig a little deeper. We have purchased - over the 5 years now - over a dozen services and products. I've added new vendors to our list that we buy from on a regular basis. You have simplified my job in every possibly way, and I like it.
The marketplace has been great. We’ve signed on new partners from it. We want to make sure what we use is the best and a lot of times, you match us to better partners than we could find on our own - and you make it so simple, easy and fast.
It's the opportunities that stand out for me. Not all of them pan out like anything else. But always is useful to hear what others are doing and what the opportunities are out there, because there's just not enough time to look at every vendor and every product. And having somebody do that first pass of, hey, here's somebody that does what we think you're looking for.
The most valued part is the work that you guys do is match the partners with the things that we need. These are very knowledge based discussions on trying to identify solutions and to identify solution providers. This has been the most helpful thing for us on trying to find solution providers.
Well, the biggest, the biggest thing is that I'm in a limited area that has limited contact with technology vendors. So there's not a lot of in person events or anything like that that I could tie myself to. And some webinars just kind of get, you know, a little mundane. So I don't sign up for as many of them anymore because they're all kind of saying, you know, speaking the same information when it comes to cybersecurity or certain technologies and things like that. And a lot of times it's the same vendors and so forth. So because I don't get a lot of in person contact with individuals, your service, this allows me to find certain signs, the avenue to certain solutions that I wouldn't normally be able to get because I would have to cold call or reach out to a company or something to that effect. So you just kind of make it a little bit easier to put me in front of individuals behind certain technologies that we may be researching at that time.
Up until I discovered TechnologyMatch, I researched on my own. Since then, it gets put right in front of me. Even if I can’t act on it immediately, its surprising how often I'll get asked about things. My CIO will ask “Have you ever heard about this company” and I'll say “Yeah, I had a demo and I know all about them”. It educates me on what's out there and when I am looking for something its a lot easier than hunting around and trying to find the contact on someone's website and getting a cold call.
I believe the vendor I was connected with was very prepared for our call and accurately addressed my pains and challenges. I would rate my experience with TechnologyMatch as a 10 out of 10. You all are a complete pleasure to work with and a huge help!
The few people I've met with, everything went really well and I was really really happy with the content of those meetings. As far as my experience of who I've gotten matched up with I've been really happy.
TechnologyMatch helps IT executives and professionals find best-of-breed industry vendors, products, and solutions in an efficient and expedient manner. I’ve relied on their services on numerous occasions and couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you Launchpad!
I would like to thank the team specifically. Hunting down reliable partners and vendors is a chore in itself when researching new projects. I appreciate the time and efforts the team puts into making that step easier. As a one man IT shop, I try my best to put those couple of hours the team saves me back to good use within my organization
I would just say, you know, it frees up my time from having to actually do the research. I always appreciate that. You know, you're already vetting some of this rather than us having to kind of do that part of it.
Picking out the vendors for me. Instead of me looking over the Internet or whatever, just you guys bringing in vendors that I've never heard of. And it's good to talk to other people.
How do You Go from Vendor Discovery to Qualified Conversations?
1. Search and Filter for Free
Filter by deployment architecture, workload type, compliance requirements, and integration capabilities. Start with vendors already matched to your environment.
2. Research Anonymously
Review vendor profiles, architecture documentation, and implementation case studies without revealing your identity. Build your shortlist without triggering a sales process.
3. Connect When You're Ready
You control when contact happens. Vendors cannot reach out until you make the first move. When you're ready, schedule meetings directly through the platform.
Or Let Our Team Build Your Vendor Shortlist
Short on time? Our account managers will map your architecture requirements, workload profile, compliance obligations, and integration constraints against our full vendor catalog, and deliver a pre-vetted shortlist matched to your specific environment.
Vendors are briefed on your requirements before any introduction, so your first call is a technical conversation, not a product overview.
A 15-Min Discovery Call
We'll map your current infrastructure, target architecture, workload portability requirements, compliance obligations, and budget to understand exactly what fit looks like for you.
Curated Vendor Shortlist
We cross-reference your requirements against our vetted catalog and deliver 3 to 5 vendors with documented hybrid implementations in comparable environments.
Pre-Briefed Introductions
Vendors arrive at the first call already knowing your context and constraints. No generic product overviews. No time spent on discovery you've already done. Conversations start with context.
What to Look For in a Hybrid Cloud
Vendor or Solution?
Workload Portability
Ask whether workloads can run and move across your private infrastructure, chosen public cloud providers, and edge environments without requiring the vendor's proprietary tooling at every layer. Kubernetes-native orchestration and open API support are the benchmarks worth asking about before anything else.
Total Cost Transparency
Request a full TCO breakdown that includes egress fees, inter-region transfer charges, licensing at scale, compliance tooling, and managed services overhead, not just compute and storage pricing. A vendor that cannot produce a complete cost model for your projected workload profile before contract is a vendor whose costs will surprise you after it.
Compliance and Data Sovereignty
If your organization operates across multiple regions or regulated industries, verify that data residency controls, encryption key management, and compliance reporting are built into the architecture. HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS, and sector-specific frameworks should be verifiable with documented audit reports.
FAQs
What is the difference between hybrid cloud and multi-cloud?
Hybrid cloud connects private infrastructure — on-premises data centers or private cloud — with one or more public cloud environments, treating them as a unified operating environment. Multi-cloud refers to using multiple public cloud providers without necessarily integrating them with private infrastructure. The distinction matters when evaluating vendors because management, orchestration, and security tooling requirements differ significantly between the two models.
How do I filter hybrid cloud vendors without starting a sales conversation?
Most discovery platforms surface your intent to vendors the moment you engage: form fills, content downloads, and profile views all feed vendor CRMs. TechnologyMatch is built differently: you can filter by deployment model, workload type, compliance framework, and integration requirements across a vetted vendor catalog without your identity being visible to any vendor until you choose to make contact.
How do I assess whether a hybrid cloud solution will create long-term lock-in?
Ask specifically whether workloads can be migrated off the vendor's platform without rewriting applications or replacing management tooling. Vendors who require proprietary hardware, their own runtime environment, or their own networking layer to deliver hybrid capability are introducing lock-in at the architecture level. Open standards — Kubernetes for orchestration, Terraform for infrastructure as code, open APIs for integration — are the indicators of a genuinely portable solution.
What should I verify about a hybrid cloud vendor's compliance capabilities?
Ask for documented audit reports for the specific frameworks that apply to your organization. Verify that data residency controls are enforced at the infrastructure level, not just the application layer. For regulated industries, confirm whether the vendor has prior implementations in your sector and whether their compliance posture has been validated by a third-party auditor.
Will hybrid cloud vendors know I am researching them?
On most review and comparison platforms, your browsing activity is treated as purchase intent and sold to vendors as lead data. You are in multiple CRMs before your evaluation has formally started. On TechnologyMatch, research is fully anonymous. Vendors have no visibility into who is reviewing their profile until you choose to reach out.
