Some of our tech customers:

The Problem With Finding CASB Vendors Today

The vendors who rank at the top usually pay to be there. The ones calling you the hardest aren't the best fit, but they do have a large SDR team.

Meanwhile, half the standalone CASB solutions you're evaluating were acquired into SSE and SASE platforms a few years ago.

What's being sold as a unified control plane is often two separate policy engines with a shared logo. You won't find out until you're three weeks into a POC and your DLP policies still haven't migrated cleanly.

The Market is Noisy and Biased

Most "top CASB vendors" lists are paid placements. Review sites surface whoever ran the best review solicitation campaign. It's genuinely hard to find an objective starting point.

Engagement Triggers Sales Calls

The moment you download a report or fill out a form, you've entered five vendor CRMs simultaneously. Evaluation hasn't started yet and the inbox is already unmanageable.

Capabilities Are Hard to Verify Pre-Sale

Vendors market at the category level — everyone "does DLP," everyone "supports your compliance framework." The actual depth of those capabilities only becomes clear late in a POC, sometimes after significant time investment.

The Market Has Consolidated

Several standalone CASB vendors were acquired into SSE/SASE platforms. Buyers aren't always sure if they're evaluating a purpose-built CASB or a feature inside a broader platform that was bolted on after an acquisition.

Tech leaders who worked with us say:

The vendor I connected to was very prepared and worked well with me on our call. They really focused on our pain points and briefly brought up what else the suite can do, rather than trying to take the whole time describing pieces we’re not ready for yet. It was well done. I would rate my experience as a 10 out of 10! This is the second time I’ve used TechnologyMatch, and both times you’ve exceeded my expectations. It removed a lot of that leg work I would have to do.”

Adam F.
Director of IT

As an IT Director in a manufacturing business working to enable effective digital transformation, I find TechnologyMatch’s services very valuable in connecting me and peers in my company with industry best practices and organizations who have the experience to help us in key areas. I have used TechnologyMatch’s services to engage in discovery with Application Performance, Analytics, Database and Cloud Monitoring. TechnologyMatch has been very thorough and diligent in understanding my organization and its IT needs and objectives. They have done a great job of connecting me with good resources. I highly recommend TechnologyMatch to any IT leader seeking to broaden capabilities and understanding of the diverse and interconnected challenges faced by many organizations.

Al G.
IT Director

I would say you guys are very thorough with your assessment of the requirements and the results that you or the partners that you come back with are generally on point as far as what we're looking for.

Ararat Kirakosyan
Senior Director, IT Infrastructure & Security RIT

I wanted to drop you a note to thank TechnologyMatch for being such a huge help in helping us discover and speak with different providers in the IT security space. We are now in a deep dive discovery with the companies they have put us in touch with. We look forward to continue using your invaluable services in the future.

Chuck C.
Global Director of IT Infrastructure

TechnologyMatch set me up with a banging appointment! My Account Manager who set this up hit the nail dead on the head. Friday we have set up a demo for the entire team here and will see all this product has to offer. Kudos to you and your group. The explanation and description that I provided was met to a tee – a very precise match. Thank you folks, you’ve been a big help. We are meeting again in the next week or so with the vendor regarding VDI and the advantages over SD-WAN. Another connection TechnologyMatch turned us on to. Good work all!!

Chuck M.
Network & Systems Administrator

It's been very helpful for me, making contacts with companies I didn't know existed that I wouldn't have found through my normal channels for sure. You know, we're still working on that project with Bridgehead that y' all directed us toward, you know, aiming to kick that off in January. And working through things with them. So that's been very good. A lot of my job is you have to talk to a lot of people to build options and figure out what your plan is going to be. So you all have been pretty helpful in that regard.

Daniel Horn
Director, Information Technology

I’ve had three calls so far and I’m intrigued by essentially all of them. A variance of overall compelling and interesting solutions. everyone has been brand new and brought something new to the table that has been very compelling.

Drew Yeskatalas
Information Security Engineer

We used TechnologyMatch in the past for cloud backup solutions. It was a definite resource that was helpful to have to get our there and put feelers out for different solutions. It’s a resource that I remember and comes to the forefront of my mind when I need it so it’s good to have them there.

Glen J.
Information Systems Manager

I would like to take a moment to thank TechnologyMatch for the quality of service and help they have provided.  I sincerely appreciate my Account Manager, Eric’s efficient, gracious customer service, the level of detail and accountability he has demonstrated each time we have talked, and the way he conducts business as a whole. Eric’s guidance in the recommendations of vendors has helped me tremendously by allowing me to focus on the technical processes but keeping me on point for several IT security initiatives we have this year.  Eric’s recommendations for vendors that are currently helping me complete projects is most appreciated. I look forward in my continued relationship with TechnologyMatch.

Greg C.
IT Operations & Security Manager

This platform is extremely helpful - just finding partners and having the same conversations with 3 or 4 different people just to get the bottom of what I’m looking for is very, very time-consuming where as your marketplace just cuts through all tape, and gets us in contact with the right people…it saves me so much time and I’m very grateful.

Harry L.
CIO

They have been supremely professional and get the people prepared for the calls to have a worthwhile conversation. I feel better about scheduling a half hour or 45 minute call with somebody I've met through them vs. anyone else I’ve ever dealt with in 20+ years. They do some of the leg work of answering these questions and I feel like I can be a little bit more forward with my answer to these questions when there’s no pressure, because thy're not selling me on anything they’re just trying to help.

Jason M.
Manager of IT

I receive a ton of calls from technology vendors about everything under the sun, most which has no benefit to my business. TechnologyMatch was different, starting out by explaining what they did and asking what areas I wanted/needed help with. TechnologyMatch saved me time and effort in sorting through the myriad of providers to put me in touch with exactly what I would benefit from implementing. After a couple of short phone calls, we have narrowed down to the two vendors to provide technology complete with pricing and provide implementation. I have truly enjoyed the thoroughness and professionalism of TechnologyMatch.

Jeff C.
CEO

You expose me to existing or current topics, you do the vetting. I’m not getting the fly by companies calling me, dialing for dollars. I like the fact that its prequalified and people are coming to the table with substance

Jerry Edwards
Chief Technology Officer

Let me take a moment to share how pleased I am to be partnered with TechnologyMatch… I find the interaction with TechnologyMatch to be timely and, more importantly, not time consuming. I enjoy the quick surveys and brief follow-up calls to confirm current concerns and needs for my organization. The discussions have been meaningful and relevant and have resulted in meeting with some well curated vendors with whom I may do business. The folks I have spoken with and understand IT challenges and business needs. They have a wide portfolio of partner vendors who play well in many arenas. There have been a couple of “misses” where a vendor may be more specialized in the security aspect of Data Governance instead of launching and managing a DG initiative. But TechnologyMatch quickly doubled-back and facilitated another introduction with a firm who specializes in what we need. Due to the complexity of IT as a whole, this is not surprising. I have no complaints. Thank you for bringing such a meaningful, free service to people in my role. I appreciate the efforts put forth and the meaningful connections you have made for me.

Joe
Director of IT Infrastructure, Operations & Security

It's this right here - it's not just a matter of, here's a new vendor, here's a new vendor, here's a new vendor. But finding vendors that specifically meets the business needs of the time.

Jon DeBolt
Manager, Information Technology

TechnologyMatch have connected me with several excellent resources related to major projects we are undertaking this year. The quality of the resources they have surfaced has been extremely high, and I’m very impressed with the quality of TechnologyMatch service.

Jordan F.
Director of IT

I wanted to thank them for setting calls for us.  It was very helpful to us.  I really liked the group that I talked to, not just the product but the people themselves were extremely helpful and it didn’t feel like just a sales pitch.  It’s nice to come across a good group like that, and I appreciate it.  Keep them on your recommended list for others for sure!  This is the first time in a long time a company has been able to answer ALL of my questions and concerns immediately without “Having to get back to me” and then never actually doing it.

Justin P.
Manager of IT

It’s often a challenging and time-consuming effort to research prospective technology and security vendors when undertaking a new project or initiative. TechnologyMatch has helped streamline the vetting process and put me in front of several innovative up-and-coming security companies. With time an ever more valuable resource, I’m very pleased to have TechnologyMatch as a trusted platform to help me navigate the increasingly crowded security space.

Larry K.
Global Head of Information Security

You provide access to protentional products for us that save me an immense amount of time searching for. I no longer have to spend hours and days finding that potential client. You are able to provide me with multiple choices, I have a zoom call or a teams meeting, if I like it I tell them lets dig a little deeper. We have purchased - over the 5 years now - over a dozen services and products. I've added new vendors to our list that we buy from on a regular basis. You have simplified my job in every possibly way, and I like it.

Larry Miller
Network Administrator

The marketplace has been great. We’ve signed on new partners from it. We want to make sure what we use is the best and a lot of times, you match us to better partners than we could find on our own - and you make it so simple, easy and fast.

Mark H.
Director of IT

It's the opportunities that stand out for me. Not all of them pan out like anything else. But always is useful to hear what others are doing and what the opportunities are out there, because there's just not enough time to look at every vendor and every product. And having somebody do that first pass of, hey, here's somebody that does what we think you're looking for.

Mark Lauteren
Chief Information Officer

The most valued part is the work that you guys do is match the partners with the things that we need. These are very knowledge based discussions on trying to identify solutions and to identify solution providers. This has been the most helpful thing for us on trying to find solution providers.

Mark Samuel
Director, Information Technology

Well, the biggest, the biggest thing is that I'm in a limited area that has limited contact with technology vendors. So there's not a lot of in person events or anything like that that I could tie myself to. And some webinars just kind of get, you know, a little mundane. So I don't sign up for as many of them anymore because they're all kind of saying, you know, speaking the same information when it comes to cybersecurity or certain technologies and things like that. And a lot of times it's the same vendors and so forth. So because I don't get a lot of in person contact with individuals, your service, this allows me to find certain signs, the avenue to certain solutions that I wouldn't normally be able to get because I would have to cold call or reach out to a company or something to that effect. So you just kind of make it a little bit easier to put me in front of individuals behind certain technologies that we may be researching at that time.

Michael Grissom
Director, Information Technology

Up until I discovered TechnologyMatch, I researched on my own. Since then, it gets put right in front of me. Even if I can’t act on it immediately, its surprising how often I'll get asked about things. My CIO will ask “Have you ever heard about this company” and I'll say “Yeah, I had a demo and I know all about them”. It educates me on what's out there and when I am looking for something its a lot easier than hunting around and trying to find the contact on someone's website and getting a cold call.

Michael Hall
Vice President, Information Technology Operations

I believe the vendor I was connected with was very prepared for our call and accurately addressed my pains and challenges. I would rate my experience with TechnologyMatch as a 10 out of 10. You all are a complete pleasure to work with and a huge help!

Nick S.
VP of IT and Security

The few people I've met with, everything went really well and I was really really happy with the content of those meetings. As far as my experience of who I've gotten matched up with I've been really happy.

Paul F. Ancona
Manager, Information Technology

TechnologyMatch helps IT executives and professionals find best-of-breed industry vendors, products, and solutions in an efficient and expedient manner. I’ve relied on their services on numerous occasions and couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you Launchpad!

Scott C.
Director of IT

I would like to thank the team specifically. Hunting down reliable partners and vendors is a chore in itself when researching new projects. I appreciate the time and efforts the team puts into making that step easier. As a one man IT shop, I try my best to put those couple of hours the team saves me back to good use within my organization

Shawn R.
Director of IT

I would just say, you know, it frees up my time from having to actually do the research. I always appreciate that. You know, you're already vetting some of this rather than us having to kind of do that part of it.

Stephanie Evans
Systems Coordinator, ERP

Picking out the vendors for me. Instead of me looking over the Internet or whatever, just you guys bringing in vendors that I've never heard of. And it's good to talk to other people.

Steven Weber
Manager, Information Technology

How do You Go from Vendor Discovery to Qualified Conversations?

1. Search and Filter for Free

Start by filtering our marketplace for CASB vendors that match your specific requirements.

2. Research Anonymously

Review detailed vendor profiles, features, and solutions without revealing your identity. Match with vendors you like and build a shortlist.

3. Connect When You're Ready

Now you control the conversation. Vendors can’t message you until you make the first move. Book meetings directly through the platform.

Need Help Shortlisting? Our Team Will Handle the Research

If your evaluation timeline is tight, our account managers will map your requirements against our CASB vendor catalog and hand you a pre-vetted shortlist.

Vendors are briefed before introductions so you get to the right conversation faster.

A 15-Min Discovery Call

We'll discuss your environment, evaluation criteria, maturity level, integration requirements, compliance needs, and budget to understand exactly what you need.

Curated Vendor Shortlist

We manually match your requirements against our vetted catalog and deliver a shortlist of 3-5 qualified vendors with proven CASB implementations in similar environments.

Pre-Briefed Introductions

If you decide to move forward, we'll brief vendors on your requirements before the first call. Vendors show up to calls prepared so you start with valuable conversations.

What to Look For in a CASB
Vendor or Solution?

Deployment Model Fit

API-based, forward proxy, and reverse proxy architectures each have real trade-offs around real-time enforcement, device coverage, and agent requirements. The right model is determined by your device posture and traffic architecture — not the vendor's default recommendation.

DLP Depth and SaaS Coverage

Every vendor claims DLP and broad SaaS support. What varies is how granular enforcement actually gets — activity-level controls inside apps, exact data match, document fingerprinting, and whether your existing DLP policies survive the migration or have to be rebuilt from scratch.

Stack Integration and Long-Term Fit

Verify native IdP integration beyond SSO — you need group-level policy mapping. And if you're moving toward a converged SSE or SASE architecture, check whether the CASB runs natively in that stack or was acquired and bolted on. The latter creates management overhead that grows over time.

FAQs

What's the difference between a CASB and a Secure Web Gateway (SWG)?

A SWG controls internet-bound traffic by filtering for malware, enforcing acceptable use policies, blocking categories of websites. A CASB operates at the application layer inside cloud services, controlling what a user can do within Salesforce, SharePoint, or Box, not just whether they can reach it. Most modern SSE platforms bundle both, but the underlying enforcement engines are distinct. Buying them as a bundle doesn't mean they're equally mature.

How do I evaluate DLP capabilities across CASB vendors without a full POC?

Ask vendors specifically about exact data match (EDM), document fingerprinting, and OCR support for image-based content. Then ask whether your existing DLP policies can be imported or whether they require rebuilding natively in their platform. The answer to the second question will tell you more about real-world deployment complexity than any feature matrix.

Is a standalone CASB still worth evaluating, or should I go straight to an SSE platform?

Depends on where you are architecturally. If you're early in a SASE or SSE initiative, buying a standalone CASB may create rework and you'll likely rebuild policies when you consolidate. If you need deep, specialized capability — particularly around API-based DLP for specific SaaS apps — some standalone vendors still outperform what's available inside broader platforms. The acquisition wave post-2019 left some SSE vendors with CASB functionality that's integrated in name only.

What should I verify about a CASB vendor's identity integration beyond SSO?

SAML and SCIM support are baseline and every vendor has them. What matters is group-level policy mapping: whether your IdP group structure in Okta, Entra ID, or Ping translates directly into enforced CASB policies without manual reconciliation. If a vendor requires you to replicate your access model inside their platform rather than consuming it from your IdP, that's ongoing operational overhead that compounds as your organization changes.

Will vendors know I'm researching them during evaluation?

On most review sites and comparison platforms, intent data is the product. Your browsing behavior is packaged and sold to vendors as leads. You're in their CRM before your evaluation has formally started. Platforms like TechnologyMatch are built differently: browsing is anonymous and vendors have no visibility into who is reviewing their profile until you choose to make contact.

Ready to Find CASB Vendors?

If you still can’t find CASB vendors without getting spammed by cold calls, you should try TechnologyMatch. Start researching vetted CASB solutions on your terms.
